Milan Pestel (1994) is a Drummer/Educator based in The Hague, NL. With a background in Batucada, Hiphop and Jazz he has developed a versatile sound which has served numerous artists throughout the years. Nowadays he is mainly active with Lady Shaynah, VanHoek and JARA and is in the production process of multiple new projects.

 

As an Educator he is mainly active at Drumschool Voorburg as a drum teacher, at Musicon as a rhythm teacher for young rappers and at Walkaplank as an allround music teacher for young children.

At an early age and trough his drum teacher Milan came in contact with multiple professional musicians of different respects like Marvin Diz (CU) Hubert Zemler (PL) and percussion group Ritmodelia (PL) and was taught by them. Soon affinity and competence for a broad spectrum of music showed and at the age of 18 Milan started his studies of jazz-drums at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with Eric Ineke, Stegan Kruger and Felix Schlarmann. He also received lessons from John Riley, Adam Nussbaum, Joost van Schaik and Dré Pallemaerts.

 

During his studies Milan came in contact with various styles of music; With the Van Hoek Quartet he played support acts for Jesse Van Ruller, Marzio Scholten,

the Matangi Quartet and Gareth Pearson. With The Magic Mumble Jumble he toured through Germany and various occasions. With JARA he played support acts for Jo Goes Hunting and Say Yes Dog. With Lieve Bertha he toured through the Netherlands on various occassions and with many others he explored music scenes of The Hague and environs

 

in 2018, as a graduate of the Royal Conservatory, Milan continues to explore different styles and keeps on reinventing himself. At the moment he is digging deeper in Afrobeat and Hiphop and is producing his own tracks.
